I'm coming back

So I expect to be updating here quite a bit more since there are two things that will help facilitate this.

1: Hubby and I just got a house in ABQ's North Valley, very close to where the ABQ stitch'n bitch meets, at a time that I can actually go. This has me very excited since I had to stop going to Knit Night because of time/traffic issues. I tried to see if there was a group meeting closer that I could bus to, but had no luck. I'm a little nervous about going because I don't really know anyone there, but I'm excited to get out of the house.

2: My good friend D and I set up a knit along for the Essential Stipe pattern taking place at Knitting in Stripes. I'm hoping this really takes off and that once we finish this pattern we can move on to other stripey knits, because I love me some stripes.

Have many FO's and in progress knits to post, but hubby bogarts the camera so I gotta find it.

Wow, over a year since updating, I can't believe it's been that long. Of course I've still been knitting, apparently too much to take the time to type about it ;)

Will post some FO's and stuff later.

I promise.

Knit what?

So I missed Knit Night again tonight and will probably miss next week too. I'm putting in 10 hours a day doing minnow rescue and by the time I get home I'm wiped out and covered in muck and smell like rotting plants. I have no wish to inflict myself on anyone else when it takes all my remaining energy to eat dinner with the hubby and kiddo.

Weaving in the ends of my hobo bag, but I am reminded again that while I love the look of stripes, the weaving of the ends bites. So needless to say, it's going a little slow. The bag turned out a little smaller than I was planning on, but I was running out of yarn and since this project was supposed to be a stash buster I couldn't allow myself to go buy three more balls of yarn just for a few more stripes. Still looks great, and the kiddo wanted to steal it. Think I'll make a smaller version for her.

I was given a $50 gift certificate to Hobby Lobby for knitting fun for my graduation but I'm having a massive attack of knitter's block. Not really in the mood to buy anything new until I finish some on the needles work, and can't make up my mind what I want to make next. I need inspiration.

Busy Busy Busy

So I graduated and got a real job so my knitting time has been drastically reduced. Set Belle aside for a while to take a break. Finished the Afghan, did my first pair of socks and am almost finished with my first bag. Still haven't figured out what the heck I want to do with that Alpaca yarn the hubby got me, but I'm thinking about doing Clapotis from knitty. The only problem with that is that the yarn is just plain black alpaca and lace weight. Maybe I could pair it with a cool ribbon yarn? I also thought of making a spring/fall poncho with the yarn, I found a couple of lacy patterns that would do that yarn justice. Still can't decide.

Started working on a poncho that I may frog, the fabric is just too dense to my liking so I may start over with larger needles.

Other than that, not much going on.

Belle, Cloths, Alpaca yarn

Well, the dying process went terribly. I don't know if I did it wrong or if the wilton colors I had just sucked. The only color I could get to take was bright pink. No thanks. So I gave up on dying and just started knitting Belle epoque. I'm almost done with the bottom lace border. Yay.

Moving along on the wash cloths. Am up to 6 done. Got the baskets and stuffing and body lotion and wash to make them. Yay.

Haven't been knitting as much at home because Rob got me a cross stitch that he wants me to do. Whee

Lace, Cotton, Mother's Day project

I've been wanting to learn lace and practice it. My ideal goal is to design an tank top/shell/top thing that uses a lacy stitch on the body, fitted chest with short rows and ruffly sleeves/straps that I can wear in spring. I have yet to find a pattern that matches those descriptions in my size so it looks like again I'm going to have to make the pattern myself. I swear I'm going to become a designer by default just because of my big chest. DDD cups suck, let me tell you.

Anyway, to practice lacy knitting, I decided to make giftbaskets for our mothers and grandmothers including hand knitted dishcloths. I made it over to hobby lobby yesterday and bought 9 balls of Lily Sugar n' cream. And I may go get more since it was so darned cheap. I'm getting all the patterns from The Dishcloth Boutique. So far I've made two and I'm on to three. Yay. Too bad there's no cable patterns or I could practice that too.

Still working on the wavy afghan, but I'm taking a break to work on the cloths. Whee.

Haven't started the dying process for the Belle yarn yet, but spring break's this week so I'll have plenty of time to get it done.

Armwarmer, updates you know

So I finally took a picture of my finished armwarmer:

You can see the full sized image in my Knitting Gallery. Yay!

Got my auction yarn, knit up a swatch and the guage is perfect for Belle Epoque. Happiness is mine. Now all I have to do is figure out a way to dye the yarn with wilton icing colors and I'm all set.
